    This month I'd like to highlight the primary technique I use to get successes I have had with several of my patients.  I have my doctorate degree in Chiropractic, but Chiropractic is one of many techniques I utilize to help my patients get healthy and stay healthy. 
 
   In 2001 I was in a car accident and it left me in a lot of pain and a right leg limp.  Chiropractic helped me get to a plateau physically.  But, I still had a lot of pain and my right leg was unstable....so, my Chiropractor and I began looking for something more.   I am so blessed to have found Dr. Eric Berg.  He is a Chiropractor, Nutritionist and the discoverer of an incredible technique called the Body Restoration Technique (BRT).  I went out to Alexandria, Virginia to learn this technique from Dr. Berg himself.  When it came to the demonstration portion of the class, I was volunteered.  After a short demonstration I walked away without my limp, I was in tears.  I had tears of joy & hope.  I finally felt my dreams of being a doctor could be a reality once again.  I also knew that I could help even more people. 
 
 
    BRT is a non-invasive technique that combines acupressure, vibration and hormonal physiology.  I love this technique, not only because it saved my life, but because it has helped so many people.  BRT has a thorough evaluation process, which helps me get to the root of the problem.  It helps me look at all my patients' symptoms to find the cause.  This way we can address the cause and stop the symptoms (pain, insomnia, PMS, fat, fatigue).  Remember, symptoms are the body's way of communicating a problem.  They shouldn't be ignored, they are not normal.  BRT helps the body heal itself from the inside out.  Your body wants to be perfect, but over time it stops working appropriately.  BRT lets the body be the perfect self-healing machine that it is and wants to be.
 
 
 
 
To Juice Or Not To Juice?
 
    That is the question....   For many people juice is what they consider the most convenient way to get fruit in their diet.  Some even add vegetables to their juice for the same reason.  I guess that's better than nothing at all.

    My concern with juicing is two-fold:  Sugar Content and Digestive Enzymes.  If you are Diabetic or just watching your sugar and carbohydrate intake, then juicing can be very risky.  Some fruits and vegetables have a pretty low glycemic index until you juice them.  In many cases the sugar content doubles or triples.  So, be careful.  If you do juice, use a juicer that keeps the pulp in the juice.  The pulp is where the fiber is.  Or make smoothies and add whole fruit to the smoothie mixture.
 
    Secondly, you need to know that digestion begins in your mouth.   Because of this fact, you need to chew your food, so that when it hits your digestive system the food is coated in the proper enzymes needed to breakdown and digest the food properly.  Otherwise, you end up with gas, ulcers and reflux issues.  Therefore, while drinking your smoothie, imitate the chewing motion to get some of those enzymes activated for healthy effective digestion.
