TransFat or Sugar?
|
Which
Is The Real Health Risk...
Life is full of choices, and
when it comes to what you put
into and onto your body, those
choices can extend your life.
The right choices can also make
every day more enjoyable.
Yes, transfats are bad for
you. They are the main cause
for heart disease. And heart
disease is the number one killer
of men & women. Please remember
to include the good fats in your
diet. That would include Olive
Oil, Real Butter, Coconut Oil
and fish. Fat is needed to
keep your nervous system and
liver healthy.
The next issue is sugar and
carbohydrates. Sugar and
carbohydrates are the main cause
of obesity. Fat does not make
fat. Carbohydrates cause the
secretion of insulin, which
makes your body store fat.
Carbohydrates also raise your
cholesterol. Cholesterol
doesn't make cholesterol. These
are basic nutritional and
physiology facts. If you want
to loose weight, lower your
cholesterol and control your
blood sugar = control your
carbohydrate consumption.
The most important thing to be
concerned about in the foods you
eat is the chemical additives.
They are called excitotoxins.
These chemicals affect your
brain chemicals and hormones.
All processed food have these
additives. To avoid these
additive try to make your own
food and avoid packaged and
processed foods.

You Are What You Eat!
|
What's
In That?
How Food Affects
Your Behavior.
Food additives and poor diet
could help explain poor school
performance, criminal behavior,
alcoholism, and the growing
numbers of Alzheimer's patients.
According to Dr. Russell
Blaylock, high sugar content and
starchy carbohydrates lead to
excessive insulin release, which
in turn leads to falling blood
sugar levels, or hypoglycemia.
Hypoglycemia causes the brain to
secrete glutamate in levels that
can cause agitation, depression,
anger, anxiety, panic attacks
and an increase in suicide risk.
The glutamate that causes this
is identical to the
flavor-enhancing monosodium
glutamate (MSG) and its chemical
cousins, which are found in
thousands of food products,
further exacerbating the
problem.
More About Excitotoxins
Repeated hypoglycemic episodes
increase the risk of
neurodegenerative diseases, such
as Alzheimer's disease,
Parkinson's and ALS (Lou
Gehrig's). In children,
hypoglycemia often leads to
hyperactivity. In both children
and adults, it can cause violent
and aggressive behavior. In
older people, there can be
mental confusion.
An anti-hypoglycemic diet would
consist of lean meat and lots of
fresh vegetables. Another key is
limiting sugars and starches.

Cell Phones & EMF

Debate
Over Cellphones Continues
Last week, three prominent
neurosurgeons told the CNN
interviewer Larry King that they
did not hold cellphones next to
their ears. "I think the safe
practice," said Dr. Keith Black,
a surgeon at Cedars-Sinai
Medical Center in Los Angeles,
"is to use an earpiece so you
keep the microwave antenna away
from your brain."
Dr. Vini Khurana, an associate
professor of neurosurgery at the
Australian National University
who is an outspoken critic of
cellphones, said: "I use it on
the speaker-phone mode. I do not
hold it to my ear." And CNN's
chief medical correspondent, Dr.
Sanjay Gupta, a neurosurgeon at
Emory University Hospital, said
that like Dr. Black he used an
earpiece.
Along with Senator Edward
M. Kennedy's recent
diagnosis of a glioma, a
type of tumor that critics
have long associated with
cellphone use, the doctors'
remarks have helped reignite
a long-simmering debate
about cellphones and
cancer.
"More and more kids are
using cellphones," said Dr.
Paul J. Rosch, clinical
professor of medicine and
psychiatry at New York
Medical College. "They may
be much more affected. Their
brains are growing rapidly,
and their skulls are
thinner." NY Times June
